Betadex is a nonreducing cyclic compound composed of seven alpha-(1–4) linked D-glucopyranosyl units. It contains NLT 98.0% and NMT 102.0% of betadex (C6H10O5)7, calculated on the anhydrous basis. It is widely used in food, medicine, cosmetics, chemical and other industries. Beta Cyclodextrin is used as a complexing agent in drug delivery, increasing the water solubility, dissolution rate and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs.
